Letter to Your Future Self

Michelle from When I Grow Up Coach and Declaration of You has challenged us this week to write a letter to our future selves. I am reminiscent when my mother used to tell me when I was 16 and  growing up to write down the things I wanted in my future and then she made me mail it to myself and label it "Don't Open until 1996 or later" (10 years later)

I forgot about the letter then one day in teh mail my mother send me a note attached to a letter in the year 2003. It said "Remember who you were, now remember who you are." Before I even opened the darn dangit thing she had me in tears.

It was interesting talking about what type of mom I was going to be and how my daughter was going to treat me if I ever had one. I also said "If you make past 25 have a party because I didn't think you would live that long." Which looking back now that I am 41 makes me laugh. Wow, what kind of depressive state was I in that I thought I wasn't even going to make it past 25??!!

So to do this again at 41 I am sure will be different but it will be interesting to read in the future, next year I hope. In 1986, at 16 years old we had computers but the Internet was not around. I did not write my letter on a blog such as I am doing for the whole world to see. But my life since I was 16 years old has changed drastically. Openly sharing online is a habit and a crutch in some ways. Perhaps I post too much but I feel I have a story to tell and I feel what I have to say matters. Maybe it does and maybe it doesn't. But I share anyway because I live in the belief and hope that what I say will touch a life that is meant to be a part of mine. So with that I share my Letter to a Future Self...

I used the template from this blog and then altered it a bit- Letter to my Future Self HERE

To my future self,
I hope that last year was good to you.

You wrote this letter last year to the challenge and you rose to the challenge jsut like you rise to many challenges you have faced in life and in this past year.

No matter what people told you, or said it couldn't be done, you kept pressing on and did as you felt you needed to do and look how you were rewarded for it.

Out of those many challenges rose an amazing, spectacular, beautiful YOU. Some of those challenges were not easy and you struggled but made it through.

You started the year out right though with a KA-POW! You started the year with Soul Restoration #1 with the Brave Girls. This helped you to let go of your past hurts and hangups. It helped you see you for the you that you are now, this year not who you were, not a victim but a survivor. It helped you let go and let you live.

After that you took a bit of a break and tried to do some things on your own. You tussled and tumbled a bit with yourself but you kept your head above water and kept on.  Then you heard about Right Brain Business Plan Online Summit and you gleaned and learned and grew so much. You learned from that how your Right Brain you and your Left Brain you can live, coexist and work together. You created a Business Plan, You put your goals down, you put your dreams down and you start reaching for them. You learned you don't have to be stuffy to be in business. You learned the word "Collaborative" and you even noticed after that how much you started hearing that word around town.

Each E-Course helping you take a few baby steps and a few big steps towards the direction of your dreams and you didn't even realize it (or did you...wink wink giggle squeak).  You found out about Goddess Leonie Dawson and started using every email she gave you. You did the mini retreats she gave you. You posted her beautiful pictures up on your walls to remind you of the things she was teaching you like how you are Loved, how you are Beautiful and How to Be a Goddess. You even changed you Facebook for awhile to be Goddess Patricia.

Then Soul Restoration #2 happened and you learned about Living the Life You Want. You originally thought you had nothing to gain from this since you were lucky enough to learn that lesson early in life but unlucky in how you learned. Because your father passed so early in your life at the age of 10 years for you (42 for him) you learned that life is short and make each moment count and make the most of it while you can. Then going to live with your mother taught you how to live that wonderful life in her teachings of spirituality, openness, being fearless and being a brave and courageous influence in your life. (Remember to thank her for that)

You were open this year to the teaching and insights of others and that was a good thing for you. In the summer you saw a great opportunity to be creative and took not just 1, but 3 "THREE" creative Online E- Courses. You took Soul Restoration 2, Summer of Color, and In the Sun. This really opened up your creative side and I truly believe opened up your mind. You created some amazing artwork and have amazeballs (Michelleism) artwork and journals to not just show for it but to encourage and inspire you!

You did just that! You looked at your books, artwork, e-course material and it encouraged and inspired you. You seized opportunities when they landed on your doorstep.  You learned from every E-course something, a principle, a thought, an action that led you on your path to success!

You started to launch your Non-profit for the Homeless and for awhile let things get in the way but as you started moving through these e-courses more and more you got all your paperwork done and are finally making an impact on the Des Moines Iowa and Omaha Communities by the things you do to help the homeless. You had a successful fundraiser drive collecting these items for Warriors for the Homeless. You provide toiletries to various shelters out of the back of your car on a monthly basis. You are an amazing liaison for those in need. You have great reporte with vendors who willingly donate product, certificates and items for your organization. You had a successful Brown Bag Event gathering waters, snacks and peanut butter sandwiches for the homeless and you had so many volunteers you didn't know what to do with yourself.

Right after you finished your summer creative art classes you heard about Omaha Fashion Week and knew you had to volunteer. One of the things you learned in SR2 was how doing Fashion was one of those things that makes you happy and you should start striving toward it. You weren't even living in Omaha at the time but you offered anyway, patiently waiting with baited breath to find out if you got in. Then out of the blue a freelance job contacted you and you took it to start earning more money for your bills to become financially free (a goal you chose in SR2). Next thing you knew you got accepted to volunteer. You devoured this opportunity to get SensaFashion back up and running and you started reaching for that goal as well. (why not right?). You had a blast volunteering and learned that this IS something you wanted to start moving towards.

Not long after you heard that BarCamp Omaha was just a few short weeks after Fashion Week. How the fates and the stars lined up for you! You shared you passion and took your web application idea into a thriving, booming online Fashion Web Community! You have over 2,500 members on the community website. You have been in 5 business magazines showcasing your business and your non-profit showing how you manage this amazing Fashion Business and yet still have time to give back and moreover INSIST on giving back through your non-profit! You now longer work any Freelance contracts because you don't NEED to! Your businesses are thriving, you are elated, content and happy finally, FINALLY doing what you want to do.

You are also happy in your personal life. You are now financially secure, have the financial freedom you wanted to own your own life not let it own you. You have a great new car that you love and that you wanted so desperately! You love your car and love going to meetings just so you can drive in your new car! You have the wealth of money you desired-enough to pay all your bills off, be financially secure and still have a bit of fluff extra.

You have an amazing man in your life. You are deeply in love. You don't know what you would do without him and you love him being in your life and yo being in his. The word BLISS comes to mind often.

I hope that you'll remember that you wanted to learn from your experiences, and that to that end, you wrote this letter to help remind you of those times, and to accept the advice and assistance of the people who care. To remember people mean well who try and help you. Remember to see the good in others as you usually do. But also remember to see all teh good you have done in the past year and the good that has come to you. Namaste~

Your past self,
~Trisha~
